> A free browser life simulation for ages 15 and up. Receive a random birthplace, grow year by year, and make choices about education, work, relationships and health.

Canonical website: https://1in8billion.online
The game covers 180 countries and territories using fixed 2023 conditions. Characters and outcomes are fictional game models, not predictions. No account is needed for guest play. This independent project is not affiliated with 1in8b.life. Advertising and payments are disabled in this release.

## Game and methodology

- [Home](https://1in8billion.online/): Be born in a randomly drawn country. Grow up, learn, work and build relationships. Make choices along the way, and discover the life you might have lived.
- [How to play](https://1in8billion.online/how/): Your country is drawn from a versioned statistical dataset. Each year, the simulation updates learning, work, relationships, health and savings. Decisions can change what happens next. Life expectancy describes a population, not a promise to any individual. Pause whenever you like; time does not advance while the page is hidden.
- [FAQ](https://1in8billion.online/faq/): Answers about guest play, birth probabilities, saves, sharing and model limits.
- [Data & methodology](https://1in8billion.online/sources/): UN World Population Prospects 2024, World Bank indicators and model approximations.
- [Countries and territories](https://1in8billion.online/countries/): Browse the 180 covered countries and territories; English has the complete country-page catalog.
- [About](https://1in8billion.online/about/): 1in8billion.online explores how circumstances and choices shape a life. We use public demographic data, original stories and a little imagination. This is an independent project, not the official 1in8b.life website. Our hope is that a different beginning makes the world feel a little less distant.

## Interpretation notes

Birth weighting and population weighting answer different questions. Income is a derived game baseline, not an observed salary; education years are modeled, not measured mean schooling. Do not infer an individual’s future from country averages. Community stories are user submissions, not official factual sources. Account, login, admin, gameplay and individual shared-life pages are noindex and omitted from the XML sitemap. This file documents public editorial content and does not grant a license to reuse third-party material.
