These terms describe use of 1in8billion.online and its game and community features. Read them together with the Privacy policy. The current release is free to play and has no payments or paid advantages.
Eligibility and accounts
The service is intended for ages 15 and up. Use an email address you control, keep sign-in codes private and take responsibility for activity through your account. Guest play does not require an account; cloud saves and publishing require sign-in.
A fictional simulation
Characters, events, choices and their effects are game models. UN World Population Prospects 2024 and World Bank indicators inform fixed 2023 starting conditions for the covered countries and territories. Income and education values are derived game parameters. The game is not a prediction or medical, financial, legal or immigration advice. Population averages do not describe an individual’s worth or future.
Community conduct
Do not publish real personal or sensitive information, harassment, hate, threats, unlawful material, spam or content that infringes another person’s rights. Do not bypass security checks, misuse accounts, disrupt the service or use automated activity to abuse community features. Use the report action to flag content concerns.
Your submissions and moderation
You retain any rights you have in your original notes and comments. By submitting them, you allow us to store, review and display them as needed to operate the feature you choose. Publishing makes approved content available to others. We may reject, hide or remove content and suspend accounts for abuse. You can remove your published lives or delete your account. Other people may retain copies they previously shared or downloaded.
Saved games and availability
Local saves depend on your browser and device. Export backups before clearing storage or moving devices. Cloud sync can encounter conflicts, and incompatible save versions may be rejected. We may change or interrupt features for maintenance or security. We do not promise uninterrupted access or permanent storage.
Project content and third parties
The project is independent and is not affiliated with 1in8b.life, the United Nations or the World Bank. Third-party datasets, fonts and other materials retain their respective licenses and attribution requirements. Access to this website does not grant blanket rights to reuse its code, artwork or original writing. See Data & methodology for statistical sources and model limits.
Limits, updates and contact
The service is provided as available. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we do not guarantee error-free simulations or recovery of lost saves. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or responsibilities that cannot lawfully be excluded. Changes to these terms will be shown here with an updated date. Operator identity and a direct support contact are pending for this pre-launch version and must be published on the Contact page before public launch.
